A single vehicle accident that took place on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 29 left a pedestrian with “significant injuries,” according to a sheriff’s official.
At approximately 6 a.m., a 34-year-old female was walking to work when a vehicle struck her, stated Sgt. Dean Spivacke of the Temecula Police Department.
“[An] employee of Abbott Labs was crossing the street when a female driver (age still in question) of a gray Hyundai, four door sedan, who was heading southbound on Ynez, struck and seriously wounded her,” said Sgt. Spivacke.
While the woman suffered serious injuries, it was reported that they were not life-threatening.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
“Right now, we are not sure if the driver failed to stop at the light, or if the pedestrian went against the light, so we are still trying to determine the cause and who is at fault,” said Sgt. Spivacke.
All lanes on Ynez Rd. from Overland Dr. to Solana Way remained closed during the investigation.
