‘Winchester’ fire burns 8 acres in French Valley

FRENCH VALLEY – A brush fire damaged one home and blackened eight acres in French Valley today before being brought under control, a county fire department spokesman said.

The blaze was reported around 3:20 p.m. at Hidden Lake and Whisper Oaks roads. No one was hurt, and the fire was contained shortly after 4:30 p.m., Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

He said it was unclear how much damage the house sustained or how the brush fire started.

FRENCH VALLEY – Cal Fire/Riverside County and Murrieta Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire estimated at 5 to 10 acres burning at a moderate rate in French Valley.

The fire is burning at Hidden Lake Road and Whisper Oaks Road. Eighty-five firefighters, 16 engines, one bulldozer, and one air tanker are battling the blaze.
