WINCHESTER: Head-on collision leaves one dead, five injured–woman identified

The driver of the sedan involved in a head-on collision at the intersection of Winchester and Stowe Roads yesterday was identified by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office.

45-year-old Lily Kirchner, a resident of Sun City, California, was reportedly restrained by a safety belt when the sedan she was driving collided with a sports utility vehicle. She was not ejected in the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A head-on collision between two vehicles near the intersection of Winchester and Stowe roads today left one person dead and five others injured, authorities said.

An investigation was underway into the cause of the crash, which happened about 8 a.m. in Winchester, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

One person, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were transported to area hospitals, two with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries, according to a fire department official.
