A low pressure system moving across the sea is expected to create rain and a chance of thunderstorms in parts of Riverside County as well as snow in areas where elevation is above 4,000 feet, according to a report from the National Weather Service.
The Winter Weather Advisory said that precipitation will begin this evening and carry through Monday with anticipated accumulation levels of snow between two and four inches in areas such as Idyllwild, Pine Cove and Vista Grande.
The report urges area residents and travelers heading into the mountains to be careful and to prepare for hazardous driving conditions that will likely be the result of slick roads and reduced visibility.
Those residents are encouraged to carry with them chains, extra food and clothing.
Precipitation is expected to last through Tuesday, according to an extended forecast from the service.
