An overturned big rig snarled traffic on the French Valley Parkway exit ramp off southbound Interstate 15 this morning.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue, along with Murrieta Police, the California Highway Patrol, AMR Ambulance and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the call of an overturned big rig, which came in at approximately 10:11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 1.

Upon their arrival, units discovered the tractor-trailer on its right side where the ramp makes a sharp 90 degree turn, according to the CHP incident log.

The driver and solo occupant of the truck was able to exit with assistance of passing motorists who had stopped to assist immediately following the crash.

The unidentified man was evaluated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to the hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.

The No. 1 lane was blocked while crews worked to remove the big rig and cargo that had broken through the roof of the truck, according to freelance photographer Joe Fanasalle who was on the scene.

The offramp was completely closed by CalTrans while the tractor-trailer was righted.
