SAN JACINTO – A person was airlifted after suffering major injuries in a single-vehicle, rollover accident April 10. The wreck happened on Gilman Springs Road near the intersection of Soboba Road in an unincorporated area of San Jacinto.

Emergency first responders rushed to the accident about 6:15 p.m., after several people called 911 to report the crash. Callers told emergency dispatchers the vehicle had possibly rolled several times down an embankment and a person was trapped inside the wrecked car.

When Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters arrived at the scene, they located the victim’s vehicle over the side of the road. Rescuers estimated the car had gone about 30 feet over the side. The sole occupant of the vehicle sustained major injuries and was trapped inside the wrecked sedan.

Firefighters extricated the victim from the car and paramedics began evaluating and treating the person’s injuries.

Based on the extent of the victim’s injuries, medical personnel at the scene requested a Mercy Air medical ambulance respond to transport the victim to a local trauma center.

Within minutes, Mercy Air 3 was headed to the location to pick up the victim.

The victim’s current condition was not available.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the crash.
