YUCAIPA – A big rig crash on the 10 Freeway caused a logjam of traffic today, Sept. 3, in Yucaipa in San Bernardino County.
It happened about 3 p.m. on the westbound 10 between Oak Glen Road and Yucaipa Boulevard, when the big rig went off the road and hit a guard rail, according to witnesses and the California Highway Patrol.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries, but a Cal Fire San Bernardino unit was dispatched for “possible injuries,” the CHP said.
The front of the big rig was badly damaged, according to a photo available on Cal Fire’s Twitter page.
An estimated 20 gallons of an unknown substance spilled onto the street from the big rig, but a hazardous materials crew was not called on scene, the CHP reported.
A SigAlert was issued as traffic became backed up for at least two miles, authorities said.
