As I reflect on my law enforcement career, one word comes to mind: grateful.
I’m grateful to those at Cal Poly Police Department who saw potential in me 30 years ago. They sent me to the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy and saw to it that I had the best training and experience.
I’m grateful for my high school sweetheart, Carol, now my wife, my best friend and my rock. Today is for you too, honey.
I’m grateful for my amazing kids, Jordan, 25, Angela, 23, and Michael, 19. You give me strength through your confidence and admiration of the work I chose to do. You gave up so much to be a cop’s kids. I.O.U. and I love you.
I’m grateful for my Hemet Police Department family – past, present and future. You define professionalism, courage, commitment and pride. I will miss you.
I’m grateful for a community that has embraced its police department and rallied together for the common good.
And I’m grateful that my Lord, Jesus Christ, granted me the strength, health and ability to do something I truly love for so many years.
Your very grateful police chief,
