Menifee awards ‘Broker of the Year’

MENIFEE – Menifee’s Office of Economic Development hosted their annual Broker’s Appreciation Luncheon Feb. 16 at the Menifee Lakes Country Club and honored Strategic Retail Advisors founding partner Nelson Wheeler as their “Broker of the Year” for his achievements in Menifee.

Wheeler was one of the catalysts for the successes of the Town Center Marketplace shopping plaza, located off of Haun and Newport roads, which was developed by Rich Development and opened to shoppers in 2016.

“Town Center Marketplace was 100 percent leased up before the project even hit the ground, and because of the city’s partnership, we were able to bring in a quality line-up for residents and visitors to enjoy,” Wheeler said. Quality tenants such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Aldi, Party City, Krispy Kreme, PetSmart, Pieology, Rubio’s, Nekter Juice and Crème de la Crème Café and Bakery are among the 25 tenants who are featured at the center.

Wheeler is a founding partner at Strategic Retail Advisors and has been in the industry over 37 years. Wheeler has represented quality tenants such as Albertsons, Costco, Lowe’s, PetSmart, and many others, and he has also done ‘ground up leasing’ for 63 new shopping center projects.

“Town Center Marketplace is a center that we are extremely proud of,” Mayor Neil Winter said. “The neighborhood center is packed with a tenant mix that matches our vision of where we see Menifee moving. Mr. Wheeler is a vital part of the success for that center and like many of our industrial and commercial brokers, we are proud to call him a partner.”

Town Center Marketplace is part of the specific plan for Menifee Town Center, the future uptown development that will be the home to the Krikorian Entertainment Complex, a mid-county civil court house, future City Hall and five-acre Central Park, housing and additional retail pads.
