PERRIS – A brush fire erupted Thursday, July 13, in west Perris, scorching 10 acres and damaging several storage buildings as crews worked to contain it.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 2 p.m. in the area of Park Avenue and Seventh Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
About 50 personnel battled to get a line around the flames with the support of a water-dropping helicopter.
Within 45 minutes, the brusher expanded to 10 acres and burned down two outbuildings, but was not posing an immediate threat to homes, according to the fire department.
There was no word on how the fire started.
