CORONA – Freeway connector bridges in Corona and Moreno Valley will be shut down tonight and Friday night for scheduled maintenance.
According to the Riverside County Transportation Commission, the southbound Corona (71) Expressway connector to the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing until 4:30 a.m. Friday.
The same closure will be in effect again from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, RCTC officials said, advising motorists to keep an eye out for detours via Green River Road that will put them back on the Riverside Freeway.
Also tonight, Caltrans crews will repair asphalt on the westbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway connector to southbound Interstate 215. According to the agency, the bridge will be out of service between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with detours in place.
On Friday, both the southbound and northbound ramps connecting Interstate 15 to the westbound Riverside Freeway in Corona will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. the following day, according to RCTC.
Motorists on Interstate 15 will be able to exit onto McKinley Street to reach the westbound Riverside Freeway, officials said.
Most of the work in Corona is tied to the $1.4 billion 91 Project Fast Forward, which officially concluded in April.
The project added one general purpose lane on each side of the Riverside Freeway between the Orange County line and Interstate 15, as well as two additional express toll lanes on both sides of the freeway in the same area. Connector bridges and shoulders were also widened throughout the project zone.
Information about the Corona closures is available via the RCTC Help Line, (800) 600-9191, or www.91expresslanes.com.
