CORONA: Man killed in Friday crash identified

CORONA – The identity of the man who was killed near downtown Corona, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an apartment complex, was publicly released today.

Jorge Avalos, 33, of Corona was apparently killed on impact, according to reports form the scene.

The crash was shortly after 6 p.m. Friday at the Corona Village Apartments, in the 900 block of Smith Avenue, near Lincoln Avenue, according to the Corona Fire Department.

Firefighters spent about 15 minutes freeing the man’s body from the wreckage.

No other vehicles were involved, and no one at the apartment complex was injured or displaced.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
