The D.A.’s Law & Leadership Summer Youth Academy will give kids hands-on training on fingerprinting, crime scene investigation, and other aspects of law enforcement, as well as activities aimed at boosting character, team- building and leadership skills, according to the D.A.’s office.
The free program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the D.A.’s office in Indio, the first time the program is being held in the Coachella Valley.
“The Law & Leadership Summer Youth Academy gives students an opportunity to explore career options within the area of law, as well as learn new leadership skills,” D.A. Mike Hestrin said. “This program is a way that our office can help empower and develop the youth in our community to become our future leaders.”
Following this week’s program in Indio, the program will move to the Riverside office from July 31 to Aug.4, then to Murrieta from Aug. 7 through Aug. 11.
