JURUPA VALLEY: Dementia patient disappears, prompting search

JURUPA VALLEY – Authorities asked today for the public’s assistance in locating a 72-year-old Jurupa Valley woman who suffers from dementia.

Sandra Lynn Thompson was last seen about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, but since that time, her family and friends have not heard a word from her, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Raemie Wood said a missing person report was filed Thursday, after which deputies initiated a search of the local area, using both a bloodhound and an air unit, but the effort yielded no results.

Thompson was spotted stepping into a silver van, possibly a Dodge Caravan, in the 10000 block of Country Club Drive, but investigators have not been able to identify the driver or whether the ride had been arranged, Wood said.

Thompson is 5-foot-2 and about 150 pounds, with brown eyes. She was wearing a black shoulder-length wig and a pink plastic headband, along with a black dress, an orange shirt and black tennis shoes, on the day she disappeared.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station at (951) 776-1099.
