MEAD VALLEY: Fire breaks out west of Perris

MEAD VALLEY – A brush fire that broke out today in Mead Valley burned just under an acre of open space but did not pose a threat to homes or other structures.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 6:20 p.m. in the area of Brown and Byron streets, just west of Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encircled the fire within 15 minutes, knocking down the flames without the use of air support, according to reports from the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
