MORENO VALLEY: Motor officer injured in collision with truck

MORENO VALLEY — A Moreno Valley motorcycle officer was hospitalized in an early-morning traffic collision with a pickup truck Tuesday, June 2. The accident happened at the intersection of Fir Avenue and Heartleaf Street, east of Kitching Street and south of the 60 Freeway, in Moreno Valley.

The accident happened while the motor officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Fir Avenue and Heartleaf Street.

After the accident, the corporal – who has not been identified by officials – was transported to Riverside University Health System in Moreno Valley for further evaluation and treatment.

Officials did not specify the nature or extent of the corporal’s injuries; however he is expected to fully recover.

Moreno Valley fire and sheriff’s officials responded to the scene of the crash about 7 a.m., after emergency dispatchers were notified regarding the accident.

When officials arrived at the scene, they located the injured motor officer and his downed motorcycle.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene to conduct a traffic investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck, which was described as a white, Ford Ranger, was reportedly uninjured in the collision and is cooperating with the investigation.

CHP’s investigation is investigating the cause of the accident and their investigation is ongoing.

No further updates regarding the corporal’s injuries were available.
