MORENO VALLEY: Motorcyclist dies after hitting curb in solo-vehicle accident

MORENO VALLEY – A motorcyclist died after losing control and crashing into a curb Wednesday, April 12. The deadly, single-vehicle accident happened on John F. Kennedy Drive at the intersection of Ely Drive in Moreno Valley.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Department responded to reports of a major injury traffic collision involving the motorcyclist about 8:54 p.m.

When they arrived, emergency first responders found the motorcyclist down in the roadway.

“The motorcyclist suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant William Stens said in a written press release after the deadly crash.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of the victim’s family.

Members of the Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation.

During their investigation, officers determined the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on John F. Kennedy Drive when the rider lost control his motorcycle and struck a curb.

“The impact with the curb caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle,” Stens explained.

While they investigated the fatal accident, deputies called for the temporary closure of John F. Kennedy Drive between Las Brisas Way and Kitching Avenue.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
