Name released of man killed on 91 Freeway

RIVERSIDE  – The Riverside County coroner’s office today released the name of the man struck by several vehicles and killed on the  Riverside (91) Freeway after escaping a car involved in a crash that injured one other person.
He was 21-year-old Soury Ibrahim of Moreno Valley, according to the coroner’s office.
The three-vehicle collision was reported at 2:07 a.m. Friday on eastbound State Route 91 just west of Spruce Street, said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Licon.
Ibrahim made an unsafe turning movement and crashed his Nissan Sentra into the concrete divider wall and it became disabled between the HOV lane and fast lane, Licon said. Ibrahim got out of his car and was standing near it.
A Toyota Camry driven by 24-year-old Francesca Juarez of Redlands struck the Sentra and pushed it into Ibrahim, who landed in the fast lane, the sergeant said.
A Kia Optima driven by 22-year-old Erika Scott of Fontana was able to avoid hitting the crashed cars but didn’t see Ibrahim lying in the fast lane and struck him, Licon said.
Ibrahim was pronounced dead at the scene, the sergeant said. Juarez was taken to a hospital with major injuries. Scott was not injured.
