PALM SPRINGS: Men charged with felonies in home burglary

Two men who allegedly burglarized a Palm Springs home—and were found later trespassing in a backyard Desert Hot Springs pool—were charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property today.

Jordan Bowyer, 23, of Palm Desert and Raymond Stoker, 26, of Indio were arrested Sunday after police say the men stole a car and other items from a Palm Springs home on Saturday, then were found inside a pool at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 12100 block of Skyline Drive.

Responding officers found the stolen car parked in the home’s driveway, then found both men in the backyard, said Detective Christopher Saucier.

Officers provided the barefoot men their shoes to protect their feet from the sun, but upon further inspection, found stolen jewelry and the stolen car’s keys inside the shoes, Saucier said.

Backpacks were also found inside the car with “numerous stolen items from the burglary,” according to the detective.

Both men were expected to make their initial court appearance in Indio Superior Court Wednesday. They were being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, according to jail records.
