INDIO – An eight-week program aimed at helping Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs start their own businesses will begin in Indio today.
The Emprendedores Program will feature business experts who will cover topics like creating a business plan, marketing, social media, sales, business financing and human resources. The free program is being offered by Riverside County in conjunction with the Consulate of Mexico in San Bernardino.
“My focus is to create more jobs and economic development, and I am glad the county and Mexican Consulate are offering this program for free and in Spanish to encourage small business creation,” Fourth County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez said.
“Starting a business involves a lot of work to be successful, but it is also a dream for many. I am pleased that this program will put entrepreneurs on the path to creating their own business and introduce them to additional services and resources available to them at the county’s Small Business Development Center.”
Following the program’s conclusion on Oct. 3, graduates will also receive one-on-one counseling from a business consultant, who will help them implement what they learned.
Perez and other community leaders are scheduled to deliver remarks at the program’s inaugural session this afternoon at the Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center at 44199 Monroe St.
Spaces remain available for the program. To register, call (760) 848-4096 or visit emprendedores_indio.eventbrite.com. Should the session fill up, a second session will also be held in October.
