RIVERSIDE – A brush fire broke out today adjacent to a water treatment facility in north Riverside, burning nearly two acres before crews got it under control.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 4:35 p.m. in the area of Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, just north of Riverside Municipal Airport, according to Riverside Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews converged on the brusher, encircling it before it could advance into thick brush in the Santa Ana River bottom, according to reports from the scene.
The blaze was declared fully contained at 4:55 p.m., and there was no damage to the Riverside Water Quality Control plant, nor to any of the surrounding structures.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
