MENIFEE – Phase three of the Sun City median landscaping project is underway as work begins on the Sun City Boulevard median just north of Cherry Hills Boulevard and south of McCall Road. The project timeline aims for completion at the end of April, weather permitting.
This beautification project includes renovating five median areas on Sun City Boulevard. Contractors will be adding drought tolerant trees and shrubs, along with decorative boulders, to the median landscape. A point-to-point drip irrigation system will be installed to conserve water and avoid run off.
The north and southbound lanes next to the median on Sun City Boulevard will be closed intermittently during construction, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Speed limits will be reduced while lanes are closed.
Traffic delays are not expected but motorists may choose to use Winged Foot Drive or Bradley Road as alternate routes to the Sun City Shopping Center.
“As the city continues to invest in maintenance and beautification projects like this, we are simultaneously beautifying while conserving water,” said Community Services Director Robert Lennox. “It’s projects like these that improve residents’ quality of life while building pride in our community.”
