Authentic – “Genuine, bona fide mean being actually and exactly what is claimed,” according to Webster. When Times Square Pizza & Bagels claims they make authentic New York Style pizza pies, slices and bagels, they mean it.
After years spent in Brooklyn, New York, Flatbush to be exact, Sal Joya, along with his brother Mike know their pizza and invite you to come celebrate their third year serving up what many claim is “the best pizza” in the valley. Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce members will gather in the Moraga Plaza on Rancho California Road at Lyndie Lane in Temecula for Sal and Mario’s ribbon cutting and lunch with friends Friday, March 10, at 11:45 a.m., where everyone is invited to enjoy their incredible pizza and bagels.
The Joyas know the secrets when it comes to making a truly authentic New York Style Pizza and it’s more than the best ovens which he had delivered to Temecula from a New York pizzeria. He uses only four ingredients in his delicious thin crust pizza making it light, airy, crispy yet perfection in the realm of chewy for even the most discerning dough connoisseur.
Every pizza is prepared from scratch with no additives or preservatives, only the freshest ingredients like 100 percent whole milk mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes, basil, seasonings and filtered water. This extends to their zesty sauce, calzones, oven baked wings, salads and New York Style bagels too. Yes, one of Times Square’s fan favorites are their bagels.
“Not everyone knows how to make an authentic bagel,” Sal explained. “Our bagels are made the traditional New York way. Firsthand rolled and formed into a circle, then kettle boiled and finally baked to give them their crisp, shiny outer crust, yet leaving the center soft and chewy, the way true bagel fans desire.”
By the slice or by the pie, you’ll find traditional and unique pizzas at Times Square. One favorite craved by many is their buffalo chicken pizza which is always ready by the slice for lunch or dinner, along with eight other styles from an artichoke and chicken pizza, to a Margarita, barbecue chicken, and the classic pepperoni or meat lover’s pizza. You’ll find a delicious Hawaiian pizza too, even garlic knots and pepperoni bites are available in minutes. The slices are huge, but how else would it be authentic if you couldn’t fold your gigantic slice in half to fit it in your mouth?
Sal knows it takes more than fabulous customer service and delicious food to keep customers happy and coming back for more. Their love for the community shows not just in their commitment to going above and beyond when it comes to the quality of their ingredients, and diners’ takeout or dining experience, but they give back wherever they can.
“You’ll always find Little League teams here after games,” Sal said. “I love having the teams and their families in. We always give every kid a free slice of pizza when they come in with their jerseys on after a game.”
But they don’t stop there, Times Square Pizza & Bagels also works with local PTAs, clubs, organizations, anyone who needs to do a fundraiser.
“We give 30 percent of our sales back to the group,” Sal said.
For those looking to hold a fundraiser at a school, or pretty much any location, Times Square Pizza & Bagels will come to you. In fact, Times Square Pizza & Bagels is one of the only restaurants in the valley that will deliver lunch and dinner up to 7 miles from their location in Temecula – that means up into De Luz, to Murrieta, down to Pechanga and even out into Wine Country.
Open seven days a week, Times Square Pizza & Bagels serves up their crave-able New York Style Pizza by the slice or by the pie, offering dine-in and take out from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Diners will find 10 to 15 beers on tap with specials for every big game or sporting event shown on their big screen televisions. “Save yourself the airfare to New York and come to Times Square!”
