TEMECULA -(SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE) On 02/25/13, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance at an apartment complex. Officers arrived and discovered a male and a female had been assaulted by the female’s ex-boyfriend. The victim’s reported the suspect, Robert Lance German, 23 years old of Temecula, arrived at the residence and smashed out four large sliding glass doors with a golf club. A three-year-old juvenile was injured by flying glass during the incident.
The suspect entered the apartment and assaulted his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, striking the new boyfriend with a golf club. The suspect threatened to kill everyone in the apartment before stealing a bottle of wine and leaving in his vehicle.
While officers were investigating the incident, the suspect returned to the apartment complex and was observed leaving at a high rate of speed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter pilot and observer. Suspect German was followed and tracked by the Sheriff’s helicopter for more than 25 minutes as he drove erratically through the city of Temecula and the surrounding unincorporated area. At one point the suspect’s vehicle was observed colliding with another motorist on Pauba Road at Via Rami within the city of Temecula. Neither motorist was injured in the collision. Suspect German drove away from the scene after the collision occurred.
The suspect inadvertently drove down a dead end road where he abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter personnel maintained visual contact of the suspect while also directing ground units to his location. Suspect German was located in a field southwest of Pauba Road and Margarita Road within the city of Temecula.
Robert German was later booked into the Southwest Detention Center on the listed charges: residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, terrorist threats, domestic violence, child endangerment, resisting arrest, DUI, reckless driving and misdemeanor hit and run.
