Accused Child Molester Dies in Jail Cell

RIVERSIDE – An autopsy was pending today on an accused child molester found dead in his cell at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.

Larry Michael Rivers, 46, was found unconscious in his jail cell Friday morning. Emergency personnel attempted to revive him without success, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jerry Gutierrez.

He said initial indications are Rivers took his own life. But the official cause of death has not been confirmed.

Rivers was booked into the detention facility on Oct. 31 after a judge increased his bail to $1 million.

In September, the District Attorney’s Office filed a complaint against the defendant alleging lewd and lascivious acts on a child. An amended complaint was filed a month later, adding multiple sex-related charges involving several children, all of them related, according to court records.

sadly the victims will not have their day in court and there will be no closure for them or him if not guilty. will this death be investigated. how does a young person die while in custody and under observation if state mandates were followed. justice is not served and we will shake our head and think we just saved tax dollars and maybe we did but at what societal cost

Of course tax dollars was wasted. He was in jail since October 31St. These type of people along with rapist should be castrated. Murders should be put to death.

Bobby Sue, not sad at all. Most victims do not want to re-live their tragic victimization. They would rather seek private counseling and let the courts (in this case, the jails) take care of justice. Luckily for the tax payers, this has saved us money. Case closed.

Thank God. At least he won’t be released in 5 years just to commit countless other atrocious acts against children. Child Molesters are never cured. Quit feeling sorry for these scumbags that rape and molest children and ruin their lives.
