A man was shot by police as he fled from using a fake gun to hold up a McDonalds restaurant in Corona, a sergeant said today.
Dispatchers received a 911 call at 10:15 p.m. Friday about the armed robbery at 400 N. McKinley Ave. A man matching the suspect’s description was spotted running from the eatery by arriving officers, Corona police Sgt. Kim Velasco said.
The officers chased the suspect to a Mobil gas station on North McKinley Avenue, where the suspect was shot and wounded. The robber suffered a non-life threatening injury and was taken to a hospital, Velasco said.
His name was not released.
The money stolen from the McDonalds restaurant was recovered and no officers were hurt. An investigation was on-going, the sergeant said.
