Hemet police shoot, arrest Oceanside homicide suspect

HEMET – Police shot a homicide suspect as they were attempting to arrest him, authorities said Satuday, Feb. 25.

The shooting occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Friday at a Mobil station at the intersection of Florida and Palm avenues, witnesses told a videographer at the scene.

Hemet police were dispatched to the location to assist the Oceanside Police Department with an active homicide investigation, according to Lt. Eddie Pust of Hemet police.

At 3:14 p.m. Friday, as officers “were attempting to take the suspect into custody, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Pust said.

The suspect was later identified as Hector Galvez, 30, of Hemet and was sought by police in connection with the homicide of Oceanside resident Joel Bishop early Friday.

Galvez was hospitalized and later transferred to the custody of Oceanside Police, according to Pust.

No officers or bystanders were injured during this incident, police said.

A second suspect, Jamie Radloff, 27, of Murrieta, was also arrested in Hemet in connection with the homicide.

Galvez and Radloff were scheduled for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Superior Court in Vista, according to Oceanside police.
