A probationer suspected of burglary and other crimes was arrested following a routine traffic stop in Eastvale, a sergeant said today.
Deputies on patrol on Friday spotted the driver of a black 2000 Honda Accord allegedly blow past a stop sign in the 6100 block of Hamner Avenue and pulled him over. They learned that the driver, James Perez, 28, of Jurupa Valley, was a probationer who had just got out of jail and found stolen property from a retail store inside the car, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Ricken.
Security guards from the unnamed business were called and confirmed that the items had been stolen earlier in the day, according to Ricken. Other alleged stolen items from various victims in surrounding communities, in addition to illegal drugs, were also found in the car, according to Ricken.
Perez was arrested and booked on suspicion of second degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property. He remained in custody today with bail set at $25,000 bail, records showed.
