Man accused of sexually assaulting ex-lover enters plea

MURRIETA – A man accused of sexually assaulting his former girlfriend at her Menifee home pleaded not guilty today to a felony charge.

David Dawty Shui, 42, of Cerritos was arrested July 10 following a Riverside County sheriff’s investigation into allegations that he had attacked the woman, whose identity was not released.

Shui was arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Judith Clark on a charge of rape of an intimate partner with bodily injury.

Clark scheduled a felony settlement conference in the case for Aug. 6 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta and certified a domestic violence restraining order that prohibits the defendant from having any contact with the woman or her child.

Shui is free on a $55,000 bond.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Williams alleged the defendant attacked the victim on July 2 at her house in the 31000 block of Eastridge Avenue. Shui was arrested without incident after detectives located him in Cerritos.

According to court records, a woman identified only by her initials had a temporary restraining order against Shui and was in the process of applying for a permanent one at the time of his arrest.
