Man arrested for robbery in Menifee

MENIFEE – SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE – On August 5, 2013, about 3:00 PM, the Menifee Police Department responded to the 27000 Block of McCall Boulevard in the City of Menifee in reference to a reported robbery. A black male suspect approached an employee of a nearby business and forcefully grabbed her purse. The suspect fled on foot southbound through the parking lot.

During the investigation, video surveillance and witnesses helped identify the suspect as Damar Sowell, 21 years old of Jurupa Valley. A search warrant was served in the 5700 Block of Kenwood in the City of Jurupa Valley in furtherance of the robbery investigation. Suspect Damar Sowell was also wanted in connection with two additional robbery investigations that occurred in San Bernardino County. He was later located and arrested by the Colton Police Department related to their investigation. He is currently in custody in the San Bernardino County Correctional Detention Center.
