Murrieta Man Arrested on Suspicion of Possession of Child Pornography

RIVERSIDE SHERIFF’S PRESS RELEASE – On 01/16/14, officers from the city of Temecula responded to a computer repair shop in Temecula reference a report of child pornography images found on a customer’s computer that was being serviced at the business. This case was forwarded to Temecula Police Investigators for follow-up and they authored a search warrant for the suspect’s residence in Murrieta.

On 01/17/14, about 3:00 P.M., Temecula Police officers served the search warrant and arrested the suspect, Michael David Otten, 43, of Murrieta, for felony possession of child pornography and booked him into the Southwest Detention Center.

TEMECULA – A 43-year-old Murrieta man was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography today after a computer repair shop in Temecula notified authorities the unlawful material was on the suspect’s computer, authorities said.

Michael David Otten was arrested around 3 p.m. by deputies who served a search warrant at his home in the 23600 block of Sycamore Creek Avenue, said Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Kevin McDonald.

The computer was brought to the shop for service, he said. The shop notified authorities of the images on Thursday, he said.

Otten was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, McDonald said.
