One suspected drunken driver was arrested during a sobriety checkpoint in Lake Elsinore that ended today.
Sheriff’s deputies began their operation at 7 p.m. Friday at El Toro Cut Off Road and Highway 74. They ended it at 2 a.m., Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Peter Giannakakos said.
A total of 601 vehicles had passed through the checkpoint and 27 of them were screened. Seven people were given field sobriety tests but one of them, Christopher Mosqueda, 20, of Lake Elsinore, flunked and was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, Giannakakos said.
Sixteen drivers were cited for being unlicensed or driving a vehicle without a license. Five vehicles were impounded and towed, Giannakakos said.
