Two motorists were arrested for alleged drunken driving during an overnight sobriety checkpoint on Highway 74 in Perris.
Sheriff’s deputies began their operations at 8 p.m. Saturday at Highway 74 and Trumble Road. It ended at 2:30 a.m. today with a total of 532 vehicles having passed through the checkpoint and 70 of those vehicles directed to a secondary area for screening, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Seven field sobriety tests given. One driver flunked the test for alcohol and another driver failed the tests for alcohol and drugs, according to the department.
Nine drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, and one driver was arrested on two felony warrants. Fifteen vehicles were impounded and towed, the sheriff’s department reported.
