Police cite clerk for selling alcohol to underage decoy in Temecula

A retail clerk in Temecula allegedly sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage decoy during a sting operation, a sergeant said today.

Sheriff’s deputies Thursday picked 18 liquor stores, but only one fell out of compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of liquor to persons younger than 21, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Gaskins said.

The clerk, Arturo Meza, 20, of Temecula, was cited and released, Gaskins said.

News about the operation wasn’t made public until today.
