Two people were arrested for alleged drunken driving during a sobriety checkpoint officers that ended at midnight today in Riverside.
Officers started their operation at 6 p.m. Friday at La Sierra and Spaulding avenues. A total of 1,365 vehicles passed through but 97 of them were screened, Riverside police Sgt. Robert Tipre said.
One motorist flunked the sobriety test for alcohol while another failed the test for drugs. Fifty drivers were cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license, Tipre said.
Officers issued 77 citations for other violations and 13 vehicles were impounded and towed, the sergeant said.
Officers also helped 14 families with securing child safety seats properly, Tipre said.
