PERRIS – The killer of a man fatally shot near Perris remained at large today.
The attack happened sometime Tuesday afternoon in the 20000 block of Scheesley Street, near Stephanie Street, in the unincorporated community of Good Hope, just west of Perris, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies were called to the area around 4:45 p.m. to investigate reports of an unconscious man in a car. Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Huskey said the victim had been shot to death, but it was not immediately known how long he had been at that location.
”This was not some random killing,” Huskey told City News Service, indicating that a possible suspect had been identified but was not yet in custody. He declined to disclose anything further, citing the ongoing investigation.
The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of his family. Huskey said he was from the area, though not a resident of Good Hope.
