Sheriff’s deputies arrested three alleged drunken drivers during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in San Jacinto, a sergeant said today.
The operation began at 7 p.m. Saturday on Esplanade Avenue, west of Santa Fe Avenue, and ended at 3 a.m. A total of 1,034 vehicles were driven through the checkpoint, and deputies conducted eight field sobriety tests, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Himmelberg said.
Three drivers flunked the test and were arrested for suspicion of drunken driving. One person was arrested on a felony warrant and three misdemeanor warrants were served, Himmelberg said.
Thirteen drivers with suspended licenses were cited, as well as 17 other drivers who drove without a license. Sixteen vehicles were impounded and towed, the sergeant said.
