Traffic stop leads to arrest for DUI and possession of loaded gun

MURRIETA – A traffic stop led police to a driver allegedly high on methamphetamine and carrying a loaded pistol inside his car today.

An officer on patrol at 8:33 a.m. stopped the driver of a Honda Civic for a vehicle code violation at the corner of Clinton Keith and McElwain roads, Murrieta police Sgt. Dave Baca said.

The driver, identified as Xavier Orozco III, showed signs of being under the influence and told the officer he swallowed methamphetamine earlier. Orozco also admitted to having .6 grams of the drug inside a pocket, Baca said.

A search of Orozco’s car uncovered a loaded Ruger MK .22 caliber handgun and a plastic bag of shaved keys, which are typically used to steal cars, Baca said.

Orozco was arrested for suspicion of several violations that included possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of burglary tools, Baca said.

Evidence drug cartel types are in our beloved Murrieta. Even they appreciate nice neighborhoods and safe cities. Major attaboys to that fine law enforcement officer. I hope someone buys you lunch! I would.

    Hip hip hooray………
