Trio Suspected in Auto Theft Flee from Deputies

LAKE ELSINORE – The driver of a car reported stolen hours earlier in Los Angeles County led deputies on a brief chase in Lake Elsinore before bailing out of the car with two other young men, but they didn’t get far, a sheriff’s sergeant said.

Rogelio Arvizuo-Aguilar, 18, of Riverside, Angel Rubalcava, 23, of Wildomar, and Julio Rubalcava, 21, of Riverside, were arrested Monday night and booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of auto theft, evading and other allegations.

Bail information was not immediately available.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Kaas, deputies patrolling the area of Corydon Road and Grand Avenue around 10:30 p.m. spotted a green Honda Accord reported stolen hours earlier out of Glendora.

The deputies signaled the driver to pull over, but he fled instead, going about a mile to the intersection of Palomar Street and Skylark Drive, where the car abruptly stopped, Kaas said.

The trio ran from the vehicle but were captured moments later with the help of a K-9 unit and a sheriff’s helicopter crew, the sergeant said.

No injuries were reported.
