On April 7, 2013, at 4:09 PM, officers were dispatched to a storage business located in the 33000 block of Grand Avenue reference a report of burglary. During the course of the investigation, officers learned several vehicles and storage units had been broken into. Numerous property items were taken. One of the items taken was described as a 12 gauge shotgun.
During the course of the initial investigation, officers identified Christopher Michael Moore (age 24), a resident of Lake Elsinore as a suspect. Moore was later located and arrested for being in possession of property items stolen from the location. Moore was subsequently arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center. The recovered stolen property items were returned to the owner.
Through further investigation, officers identified Michael Dean Lunsford (age 42), a resident of the city of Perris, as an additional suspect. Lunsford was later contacted by officers during an unrelated vehicle enforcement stop. The stolen shotgun was recovered. Lunsford was taken into custody without incident and also subsequently booked at the Southwest Detention Center.
On April 8, 2013, officers learned Lunsford was leasing a storage unit at the storage business where the original crimes occurred. Officers obtained a search warrant and returned to the location. Upon conducting a search of the storage unit, numerous additional stolen property items were recovered. The total estimated value of the property recovered is in excess of twenty-eight hundred dollars. The investigation is ongoing.
