LAKE ELSINORE – An ex-con had a busy New Year’s holiday weekend, allegedly stealing two pickup trucks near Lake Elsinore that were recovered today.
Dennis Rowe, 40, was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and parole violations following an investigation by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies.
Around 4:30 this morning, deputies in the area of High and Mill streets in Lake Elsinore located a Ford F-350 pickup stolen from a Menifee residence, sheriff’s Sgt. Steve de la Vara said.
During the investigation, they also found another Ford F-350 that turned out to be stolen from Canyon Lake, he said.
Investigators learned the suspected thief might be at a residence in the 700 block of Lake Street and went there to conduct a parole check, de la Vara said.
Rowe was found at the residence and positively identified by a witness to the first theft, according to the sergeant.
Another ex-con, 27-year-old Johnny Pogue, was found hiding in an attic of the residence and arrested on suspicion of parole violations, as well, da la Vara said.
