MENIFEE – The coroner Saturday, June 10, identified a Menifee woman who was struck and killed by a motorist.
The incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday on State Route 74 near Third Street in the Romoland area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Initial reports indicate that Teresa Garcia, 37, was standing in the roadway in an area that did not have a crosswalk when she was struck by a westbound vehicle and suffered major injuries, Sgt. Jason Edmondson said.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, Edmonson said.
Investigators did not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
