Angels fans are invited to meet pitcher’s Matt Shoemaker and JC Ramirez at a free meet-and greet on Thursday, July 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Pechanga Resort & Casino Theater. Ramirez and Shoemaker will sign one personal item per guest. Signatures are open to the first 500 people.
Patrons attending the event must be 18 or older, or accompanied by an adult to enter the Pechanga Theater for the autograph session. Media are welcome to cover the meet-and-greet.
Shoemaker made his debut with Angels in September 2013 and has proved one of the team’s most popular players ever since. In 2014, he finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting after establishing a franchise rookie record with 16 wins and pitched to a 3.04 ERA. That same year, he was named the A.L. Pitcher of the Month in August and also appeared in the Major League Baseball Japan All-Star Series following the season.
Juan Carlos “J. C.” Ramírez made his MLB debut in 2013 in a game against the New York Mets, and struck out the side with his fastball velocity reaching as high as 98 MPH over one inning. Ramirez previously played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds.
Before the public meet and greet, Matt Shoemaker will distribute brand new athletic shoes to a very special and deserving group of foster children. The shoes come courtesy of Pechanga and the Shoes That Fit organization. Ahead of the upcoming school year, these children will receive new shoes in their exact sizes, meet the Angels star, and have stories and memories to last a lifetime. Their extra-special event gets underway at 5:30 p.m. inside the Pechanga Theater. Pechanga Resort & Casino is providing the children and foster parents with a buffet dinner before the meet-and-greet and the Angels will provide team memorabilia and merchandise. This portion of the meet-and-greet will only be open to Pechanga staff, Rancho Damacitas foster group attendees and the media.
