Elsinore Captures First Victory in the Tournament 62-42 Over Vista Del Lago – The Tigers will Play Claremont in Round 2 of the CIF Division 2AA Boys Basketball Tournament

The Tigers hosted the Ravens Friday night as Elsinore clinched its first victory of the CIF SS Division 2AA tournament 62-42 over Vista Del Lago. The victory advances Elsinore into round two of the tournament to play Claremont Tuesday night at 7pm.

The Tigers were in control from the opening tip off and cruised to victory behind a solid defensive effort and their usual offensive prowess. Elsinore played with their usual aggressive style of basketball and had several steals while dominating both the offensive and defensive boards.

Vista del Lago just couldn’t get things started and fell behind from the tip off. The Ravens never really connected all game long. Elsinore fans got into the game to support the home team. Their huge face signs were certainly a huge distraction for the Vista del Lago players. Especially at the charity stripe.

Elsinore was led by senior forward Reynaldo Solorzano’s 21 points. Junior guard Trevon Lampkin scored 10 points against the Ravens. The Tigers had two slam-dunks, one by Preston Beverly and another from Michael Taylor that rattled the Ravens.

Sophomore guard Devin Porter led Vista del Lago with 16 points.

Claremont was third in the Siera League and is coming off a close 63-58 victory over Cajon. The game will be played at Claremont.
