Senior pitcher JT McClellan scattered five hits over seven innings and quieted Temecula Valley’s big bats to shut-out the Golden Bears 2-0 and get the Broncos back into the hunt for the Southwestern league Crown. Vista Murrieta scored once in the fourth and another in the sixth to earn their third league win against three losses. The Broncos are 13-4 overall.
Junior Ian Nowalk provided the spark for Vista Murrieta as he went 2-for-3 with a double, scored and knocked in a run. Junior Angel Ortiz also went 2-for-3 and scored for the Broncos. Benny Blackwell and Ruben Ornelus had hits for VMHS.
The Golden Bears had hits from Alec Garret, Mitch Kemp, Samari Buchanan, Drew Seelman and AJ Sawyer but just couldn’t put them together to score. The loss puts Temecula Valley at 13-3 overall and 4-2 in league play and throws the Golden Bears into a three-way tie for the league lead with Murrieta Valley and Great Oak. The Nighthawks beat the Wolfpack 6-3 yesterday.
Temecula Valley and the Broncos will face off again today at Vista Murrieta. Game time is 3:30pm.
