Temecula Valley senior Brandon Koch posted a one hitter through five innings to shut out the Rams Thursday afternoon. Matt Ferris and Isaiah Moten also combined to throw a shutout inning apiece as they helped the Golden Bears improve to 17-4 overall. Temecula Valley takes a commanding lead in the Southwestern League with a 8-3 record with the victory.
The Golden Bears scored once in the first inning and then exploded for five more runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Kyle Plantier was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice for TVHS. AJ Sawyer doubled, scored, and had two RBIs while Alec Green knocked in two for the Golden Bears.
Koch was named Player of the Game by Coach Tony Nobiensky. Temecula Valley takes a one game break from league play as they travel to the University of Pacific on Saturday to face Elk Grove in the Boras Championships. The Boras Classic is one of the premiere High School baseball tournaments in the Nation.
The Golden Bears’ next league opponent will be Great Oak at home on Tuesday. The Wolfpack is 17-6 overall and are all alone in second place behind Temecula Valley with a 7-4 league record. Great Oak lost to Chaparral 6-5 Tuesday and then beat Chaparral 4-3 Thursday.
