The Broncos took a little time off from their vacation to Walt Disney World to play The Eagles from Egg Harbor Township in New Jersey Friday night. Vista Murrieta won the game 72-68 and advanced to the winners bracket for round two in the KSA Holliday Tournament.
The Broncos trailed the Eagles by one at the half with the score 29-28. Both teams scored twenty points in the third period to set up the decisive fourth. Vista Murrieta stiffened and pulled away as they outscored Egg Harbor 25-19 to win.
The Broncos were led by Austin Beech as he scored 22 points against the Eagles. Spencer Bensen had 14 points and Jacob Perry added 11 for Vista Murrieta.
The trip to Orlando is an opportunity for the Broncos to compete against top teams from across the country and play new competition they normally wouldn’t. Over 100 boys’ and girls’ teams from coast to coast are expected to compete in the tournament. Last season’s records, rankings and returning players were used to place teams into brackets with equally talented teams. The Games are played at the Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Broncos are in a tournament bracket that includes Creekview HS from Georgia, Central Bucks East HS and McDowell HS from Pennsylvania, Ponte Vedra HS and Coral Gables HS from Florida and Lowell HS from California.
Vista Murrieta will play Central Bucks East tonight at 6:30pm EST. The Patriots beat Creekview 45-36 in the opening round
