HS Girls Water Polo: Murrieta Valley Sinks Great Oak 21-6 – The Nighthawks Dominant in League Play

The Murrieta Valley girls water polo team proved to be too much for Great Oak Monday night as the Nighthawks dominated as soon as the ball hit the water. Murrieta Valley jumped out to a 4-1 in the first period on goals by Kayla Fedler, Abi Auer, Delayne Lynton and Maddie Sanchez.

The Nighthawks scored seven more in the second period and extended their lead to 11-3 at the half. The Nighthawks shut out Great Oak in the third period. Murrieta Valley’ Fedler and Auer both scored three goals in the period as the Nighthawks built an insurmountable 18-3 lead and cruised to the victory.

Fedler and Auer ended up scoring six goals apiece in the contest for Murrieta Valley. Kelley Guerts score three, while Lynton and Sanchez both scored two for the Nighthawks.

The Wolfpack’s Tara Prentice led Great Oak with three goals against the tough Nighthwak defense. Jill Wolf, Abby Bauxbaum and Reagan Castillo each scored a goal for the Wolfpack.

Murrieta Valley will face Vista Murrieta in league play Thursday at 4pm.
