The Chaparral softball team is off to one of the best starts they have had in recent years and after winning the Cougar Classic in Escondido earlier this week, they have high hopes for league which starts next month when they open against Murrieta Mesa at home on April 15th.
Senior Karissa Frazier only gave up one hit and freshman Reilly Peters knocked a grand slam as the Pumas defeated Torrey Pines, 5-0, Monday night in the championship game of the Cougar Classic softball tournament at Kit Carson Field in Escondido.
Chaparral took fifth at the Stu Penter Classic in Corona earlier this month, the program’s best finish at that tournament since it reached the championship game back in 2009.
Chaparral (9-4) plays host to No. 8-ranked Riverside King (7-2) in a non-league game Wednesday, March 19.
