HS Softball: All-Southwestern League team announced

Murrieta Valley’s Danielle Gibson tops the list of honors as the 2017 All-Southwestern League Softball team was recently announced. Gibson was named the league’s Most Valuable Player along with Vista Murrieta senior Shealyn Ollison and Murrieta Mesa junior Autumn Pease, who were selected as the Pitchers of the Year.

Gibson led the Southwestern League with a .530 batting average, hit 8 home runs, led the league in slugging and on base percentage, scored 25 runs and had 29 RBIs. Ollison led the Broncos to the Southwestern League Championship and helped the Lady Broncos get deep into the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

Pease, a junior, won 22 games and was the league’s ERA leader with at 1.26. She helped pitch Murrieta Mesa all the way to the CIF SS Division 3 Championship. Teammate, Lauren Randle, was the youngest to make the First Team as a freshman. She was the league’s co-leader with 32 RBIs.

Great Oak had four players selected to the First Team, senior outfielder Skye Webb of Temecula Valley also made the First Team and Reilly Peters, the talented senior from Chaparral that led the league in Home Runs, Runs Batted In, was second in the league with 14 Steals represented the Pumas with a second team vote.
